Coring and Foundation Drilling
Asphalt Concrete and PCC Coring
The Materials Lab cores asphalt concrete whenever there is insufficient compaction
or any other questionable defects in paving. The CME 45C is mounted on a Ford F-450
all-wheel drive pickup truck, which allows for access to flood channels and other
difficult locations. The Lab also has portable coring machines with water supply
for limited access coring.
Drilling - Soil Sampling
Exploratory Boring
The Mobile B-61 is used for deep boring operations for in-place sampling. This sampling
method is used for foundation design, landslides, setting wells, and other geotechnical
projects.
