The County of Orange Announces Intent to Conduct a Traffic Study for Live Oak Canyon Road/Trabuco Canyon Road

SANTA ANA, CA. – The County of Orange’s OC Public Works, in cooperation with the California Highway Patrol and Orange County Sheriff’s Department will host a public meeting at the Trabuco Elementary School, 31052 Trabuco Canyon Road, Trabuco Canyon, on Wednesday June 3, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the proposed Traffic Study and for law enforcement to provide educational and enforcement information to the public. Public comments are sought on the proposed traffic study. The study will cover Live Oak Canyon Road/Trabuco Canyon Road from Santiago Canyon Road/El Toro Road to the Rancho Santa Margarita city limits.

Live Oak Canyon Road/Trabuco Canyon Road is located in the unincorporated County area of Trabuco Canyon. This roadway is a rural, two lane curvilinear collector road with overhanging tree canopies. This area was originally designated a scenic roadway in the 1970’s by the Board of Supervisors. Preservation of the area’s rural character and future development are set by guidelines of the Foothill/Trabuco Specific Plan which was adopted by the County in 1991. The scope of the traffic study is to examine the current operational performance and to identify improvements to increase the overall performance of Live Oak Canyon Road/Trabuco Canyon Road to serve the public.

Members of the public interested in submitting comments should attend this meeting. An Orange County Traffic Committee meeting will then be scheduled where the traffic study data, analysis, and recommendations will be presented.
