Orange County Open House Features Collector Cars and Highlights Public Works Operations

SANTA ANA, CA. – Orange County’s Public Works Department hosts its annual Open House on Saturday, May 16, 2009. The Open House will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at “Glassell Yard,” located at 2301 Glassell Street in Orange.

Ignacio Ochoa, Director of OC Engineering commented, “Especially during these tough economic times we feel it is important to show our residents that we put their tax dollars to good use. Our Open House gives us an opportunity to invite the public to see firsthand the broad spectrum of services and programs that Public Works provides County residents.”

This year’s festivities includes complimentary hot dogs, soft drinks, opportunity drawings, games for the kids, live music by “The O.C. Band,” and exhibits hosted by Public Works Divisions, along with the City of Orange Fire Department and the Sheriff’s D.A.R.E. program.

Public Works’ Operations and Maintenance’s manager, Bill Hisey added, “We are excited to hold this year’s Open House to honor National Public Works Week at our new location in Orange. This is when we get to show off our construction equipment and discuss activities that take place to maintain the County’s infrastructure. Plus, the kids love to crawl up on the big tractors and their parents enjoy the band and car show. There is something for everyone!”
