Does the County have a Tree Trimming Program?
The county does have an annual tree contract with Great Scott Tree Service. The service consists of road right-of–way trimming, sidewalk clearance trimming and aesthetic trimming of trees within our right-of-way. County areas are divided by grids which are trimmed on a three year schedule. The service also includes removal of damaged trees and any trees creating a public hazard. Great Scott is on call 24 hours a day for emergency response to any tree issues that arise.
Great Scott also provides tree service on our flood control channels, providing clearance for maintenance vehicles on the service road and removing growth on the slopes to discourage homeless encampments, and to reduce fuel for fires. OC Parks also uses these services for removal and trimming of trees throughout the parks system to provide a safe environment for the public.
