OC O&M - Street Lights
Street Lights:
The County does not maintain street lights located in the unincorporated areas of
Orange County and within public right-of-way. These lights are the property of the
energy service providers (Southern California Edison (SCE) or San Diego Gas and
Electric (SDG&E)) within the area and can usually be identified by checking a monthly
billing receipt. Streets lights within private communities or on private property
are usually the responsibilities of the property owner or community association.
The County is responsible for paying the energy charges for street lights within
its jurisdiction and for reviewing and responding to requests regarding installations.
Requests for new installations or modifications to existing street lights are reviewed
on an individual basis and according to the County Standard Plan 1411.
If you would like to report a street light that has a burned out lamp, please
contact the appropriate energy provider for your area from the links listed in the
Related Links area.
Highway Safety Lights
Highway safety lights are street lights that illuminate an intersection that have
a traffic signal. These lights are typically located on the same pole as the streets
lights and are maintained by OC Public Works/Traffic Engineering/Signal Operations.
If you would like to report a safety light that has a burned out lamp, please contact
that department through the links listed in the Related Links area.
